Dublin branch marks 10th anniversary with new sea freight service
A direct Benelux sea freight connection is providing a platform for the further growth of Transmec’s branch in Ireland.
Established ten years ago, the Group’s base in Dublin has expanded rapidly, building on its original twice-weekly link with Italy.
Daily connections are now provided between the two countries, as well as the UK, with weekly inbound services also running from Portugal and Spain.
The new, direct sea freight service, operated in conjunction with Transmec Belgium, sees goods leave the port of Antwerp on Friday, arriving in Dublin on Monday.
And it’s proving so popular that a second weekly departure, on a Tuesday, is about to be launched.
Branch manager, Michelle Forrester, said: “The new link is attracting a lot of interest from customers and the involvement of Transmec Belgium ensures things run smoothly at both ends.
“For many of the inbound goods that are currently routed through the UK, the service is proving more cost-effective and there’s no significant difference in delivery times.”
Transmec Ireland carries a wide range of products, including automotive - with regular express loads to manufacturing plants in France – fashion, pharma and machinery, as well as special projects.
Annual consignment numbers – already seeing double-digit growth – are set to increase.
“The number of shipments has risen by more than 15 per cent in each of the last two years so we’re marking our tenth birthday in a good position,” added Michelle, who is supported by Tina Hanley and Laura Moloney.
“The team here is highly experienced and we have built a reputation for delivering a reliable service, so we’re confident that the upward trend will continue!”
