Euros medal for Thai boxer Ellie
Transmec-sponsored Thai boxer Ellie Pardy was in the medals at the European Championships held in Istanbul.
Representing Team GB, the 17-year-old won her quarter final to guarantee a bronze and was unlucky not to get the decision in a very close semi-final.
Ellie also fought well in the junior Muaythai World Championships which took place in Thailand in December.
“It’s been a fantastic few months and I’m really pleased to win a medal,” said Ellie, who is from Redditch.
“Seeing new countries and experiencing different cultures and food was amazing. It was also great to meet the other Team GB members and train in a Thai gym and deal with the heat.”
Ellie, who trains at a specialist gym five times per week, has now moved up to adult fights and is competing without protective padding. She won at her very first attempt, beating an experienced opponent who had been victorious in her previous four fights.
Sponsorship from Transmec will continue to help cover the costs of travelling to and taking part in events held around the UK, as well as further afield.
“I’m very grateful to Transmec for helping me to get so much out of a sport I love,” added Ellie.
Transmec’s UK sales manager, Phil Thomas, said: “We’ve been following Ellie’s progress closely and enjoyed watching the video of her medal-winning fight. We’re extremely impressed by her continuing enthusiasm, dedication and hard work.”
