Transmec acquires S.T.C. for a more connected Mediterranean
Transmec Group announces the acquisition of S.T.C. (Servizio Trasporti Combinati), a well-established player in intermodal transport between Europe and North Africa.
Transmec Group's expansion in North Africa continues with momentum.
Building on the success achieved with TNA Cargo, which opened numerous new routes in the Maghreb region, the Group strengthens its presence in an area full of opportunities.
In Transmec's growth journey, the acquisition of S.T.C. from Mr. Bertacchi Renato marks yet another decisive step forward.
S.T.C.'s story began in 1981 in Genoa, with a clear vision: to connect Europe to North Africa through intermodal land-sea transport solutions. Over the years, under the leadership of his sons Fabrizio and Lorenzo Bertacchi, the company has developed a strong network of connections, progressively expanding into Tunisia, Morocco, and France.
Today, with in-depth knowledge of the North African market and a fleet of approximately 550 semi-trailers – including curtain-sided, box trailers, flatbeds, and reefers – S.T.C. provides full load and groupage transport services.
This is complemented by logistics and warehousing solutions for optimal supply chain management, as well as customs and insurance assistance that simplify import-export processes, offering comprehensive and integrated support.
With this acquisition, Transmec Group now boasts an even more extensive and efficient network connecting Europe, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, and Algeria with unprecedented reach. The merging of forces brings together a fleet of over 1,500 vehicles dedicated to these markets.
By combining experience and vision, Transmec is charting new routes and unlocking growth opportunities for its customers on both shores of the Mediterranean.
Danilo Montecchi, CEO of Transmec Group, commented:
"Africa is rapidly emerging as a continent of enormous potential. The Mattei Plan is driving growth in key sectors such as automotive, textiles, and biomedical. In this dynamic environment, having integrated logistics solutions is essential to support companies on their expansion journey.
“This acquisition opens a new chapter of collaboration and development, allowing us to further consolidate our position as a strategic partner in North Africa.
“By merging S.T.C.'s expertise with our global network, we can now offer more efficient connections, supporting international trade operators.
“Thanks to this integration, our services become even more competitive, providing tailored solutions to support business growth on both sides of the Mediterranean."
Transmec Group warmly welcomes all new members of the S.T.C. team, with the excitement of building a future of collaboration and growth together. A heartfelt thanks to the Bertacchi family, with whom we have established a relationship that we hope will be long-lasting.
