Transmec India moves special bus to Africa
A specially-adapted 52-seater bus was one of the more unusual loads handled by Transmec India’s office in Mumbai.
Converted into a mobile soil testing lab, the 32-feet long vehicle was shipped to Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania on behalf of Transchem Agritech which is based in the city of Vadodara, more than 400km from Mumbai.
Fifteen days of careful planning, good communication and teamwork saw the bus transported safely and seamlessly on low-bed trucks from Transchem Agritech’s headquarters to the port for its safe voyage to east Africa.
“It was certainly a challenging logistics project but one that we managed very successfully – and on budget,” said Leslie Rebello, manager of Transmec’s Mumbai branch.
“We created teams to oversee the operations, surface transport, port handling and overall management, with every team reporting on progress to the station head. Our customer was delighted by the success of the project.”
