Transmec launches its first robotic warehouse
Recognising the market’s evolving needs, the Group takes a decisive and visionary step in transforming the logistics sector by investing in automation.
On 6th December, at its Italian headquarters in Campogalliano (Italy), Transmec Group marked a historic milestone: the inauguration of its first robotic area.
This project embodies the Group's response to the dynamics of today’s market, where technology and logistics merge to redefine industry standards.
Led by T-Log, Transmec Group’s division specialising in industrial logistics, the automated area has been designed to address challenges that have emerged in the post-pandemic landscape.
“In recent years, we have observed significant changes, such as the rise in online shopping and the increasing demand for rapid deliveries. Previously, our warehouses primarily managed B2B orders, whereas we now see a growing prevalence of B2C orders,” said Simone Corradini, General Manager of T-Log.
“These developments, combined with a shortage of workers in the sector, have compelled companies to restructure their logistics organisation, adopting more agile distribution models.”
Through meticulous studies, analyses, and strategic investments, the company identified the double-deep automated warehouse as a scalable and efficient solution to meet market demands.
During the opening day, Isabella Longhi, Sales Director - Incas S.p.A. S.U. – SSI SCHÄFER GROUP, also spoke:
"This project is the result of over 20 years of successful collaboration between our companies. By working side by side, we have managed to develop a bespoke solution that perfectly meets the needs of the market."
With a storage capacity of 13,000 crates, the new system promises a 275% increase in storage density. Thanks to this innovation, T-Log is poised to handle up to 800,000 orders annually, pushing the boundaries of logistics capabilities.
The benefits for operators are equally significant, as are those related to environmental aspects:
"Robotisation not only frees staff from repetitive and physically demanding tasks, allowing them to focus on higher value-added activities, but also represents a step forward in terms of sustainability. The entire robotic area is powered by clean energy generated by our photovoltaic system, a tangible example of our commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable logistics model," emphasised Corradini.
Also present at the event were Stefano Bonaccini, Member of the European Parliament and former president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, and Daniela Tebasti, Mayor of the Municipality of Campogalliano, who highlighted the role of the Transmec Group in the development of the region's industrial fabric and as a driver of innovation in the logistics and transport sector.
Concluding the inauguration, Danilo Montecchi, CEO of the Transmec Group, shared his reflection:
"Innovation is one of the driving forces of our corporate culture. This project is just the beginning of a journey that will lead us to a future where technology and sustainability come together to create a lasting positive impact."
