UK and Spain linked by new groupage service

Offering nationwide delivery and collection in both countries, the service runs between the Group’s hubs in London Gateway and Barcelona.

Transmec has six warehouses and ten offices throughout the UK and Spain, including bases in Madrid, Valencia, Granada, Redditch and Bradford.

With Transmec regularly moving freight between the two countries, a more frequent groupage service was a logical next step.

“We felt the time was right to increase our round-trip connections with Spain, considering the demand from many of our existing UK-European groupage clients,” said Steven Day, London Gateway branch manager.

“With Transmec able to manage collection, customs clearance and onward delivery, it’s an end-to-end service. Whilst it’s only weekly initially, we’re aiming to double the frequency before the summer.”

Transmec’s branches in both countries have attained Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification, highlighting their skills in handling all customs procedures.

“Customer satisfaction, in the most technical sense, is guaranteed,” explained Alberto Loeches, managing director of Transmec De Bortoli Group España.

“It was nonsense that we had not developed a proper regular connection between two of the most populous markets in Europe.

“We felt it was just the right time to do it now that we are all properly established in our new offices, both in Barcelona and especially London Gateway. We are now linking over 100 million people. It is about time!”
